The Undoing Series Finale comes undone on HBO

The Undoing - Series Finale

Pre-Season Finale Power Rankings

#1 Top prospect: Hugh Grant / Jonathan - painted as most guilty which means he might not be. Mother calls on Skype and basically describes him as a sociopath related to his younger sister getting hit by a car.

#4 Nicole Kidman’s Character - innocent or innocent like a fox?

#6 Henry - The Son of Nicole Kidman and Hugh Grant — found the hammer in his violin case, seems pretty obvious he knew - as he woke up staring at his mom.

#2 Top prospect: Husband of Elena - flimsy alibi

#3 Donald Sutherland - seems possible he knows much more than is being painted

#7 Other Dudes? Seems random

#5 The Principal Theory — hell of a call — not even “red herring” territory in the lead up

#8 Elena’s Son? There’s a hot take - Miguel Alves

Dream a little Dream of Me as a theme song is terrible in general - and definitely not great for a murder mystery series

Wow - the hammer in the dish washer routine ???

Hugh Grant throwing his son under the bus as a suspect - this is gonna be an interesting hour

Donald Sutherland - wants this thing over - i think he’s got motive

Are they ever gonna address Nicole Kidman’s “quasi clairvoyance”?

The Tuxedo - took it to the dry cleaners on the way to Lake George — DA had that wry smile like she had the ace up her sleeve

Hailey the Defense attorney calls Miguel to the stand!?!?!

Miguel told his teachers - that he was scared when his parents argued

Donald Sutherland’s eyebrows are a character unto themselves

Grace Fraser (Kidman) takin the stand - seems like an invitation for a turning point

The 911 call — on the cross examination — not a good look.

Is Grace trying to get her husband on the hook? What was her lawyer friend’s role in this?

An interesting - “bait & switch” - since he probably did this, that’s a good thing for “justice” but - they let Grace essentially perjure herself as the big reveal?

I wanted more twists and turns than a narcissist saying “I didn’t do it” in a believable way.

Road Trip! Instead of going to court. There’s a twist I wanted! OK! But there’s 3 minutes left guys

Do they usually let the civilians ride in the helicopter?

Do they owe the bail bondsman $8million now cuz Jonathan fled?

Rock & Roll Hall of Fame podcast - 2019

2019 Rock & Roll Hall of Fame induction - Rating the performances

“How’ the artists do technically/ performance-wise, did they miss a song you really wanted to hear, were there any other notable or surprising things about their performance.

Stevie Nicks - First woman inducted twice  (side note, I forgot that “Everywhere” was a Fleetwood Mac Song, but that’s my absolute jam for some reason. That’s from their 1987 record, “Tango in the night” - which is interesting that they were still making new hits after Stevie went solo.

“Stand Back” is her opener - she sounds great. Huge pops from the crowd.

This is a lady who still does this for a job, and while she might not have her 1970’s and 80’s fast ball - she’s still a major leaguer

Great synchro dance moves by her backup singers.

Her backup band is so good they make me like Stevie more than I thought I did.

Janet Jackson even loved it

Radiohead - didn’t perform. I’m not bummed out, but you can tell that the two guys in radiohead who actually did show up to accept the award were pretty bummed out. David Byrne Inducted them - High Praise

Janet Jackson - this is HEARTBREAKING THAT JANET DIDN’T PERFORM LIVE. Heart Breaking.

“Leather & Lace” - Sounds good and Props to her from bringing out Don Henley and keeping him off stage til right before his verse started. The Pop from the crowd, really effective. Don still sounds good too.

Stevie brings out Harry Styles of One Direction Fame to fill in for Tom Petty on “Stop Dragging My heart around” - amazing story about how Jimmy Iovine basically stole this song from Tom Petty’s record and put it out as Stevie’s first solo hit single.

Solid performance - maybe not as great as Stand back, Steve is a good entertainer though. Harmonies are still good - This feels like a real show, versus a final acknowledgment

“Edge of Seventeen” aka One winged dove - fans LOVE the opening notes. great sign as always. This song has been big more than once, including with Destiny’s Child  — Jimmy Iovine is there are standing with his wife rocking out.

These songs are like 40 years old - and really good man, really strong.

Stevie whips out the Tamborine for the big ending — crowd freaking loves it - Big ending — really comes off well.

Stevie’s speech was good, too

The Cure “We’ve only got time for one more, Goddam Damn, Stevie Nicks. Just Joking”

Trent Reznor - the inductor - lot of street cred in that, in my opinion. Really strong speech.

The Cure invented gothic/ alternative rock

I’d rather wrap up the speech so we an play more songs in our allotted times.

They Open with “Shake dog Shake” from 1984 - this was a good jam. Not well known to me. So i list this as a surprise.

“Boys don’t cry” - Huge pop for this one from the crowd.

“Love Song” - Just a great, great song — they sounded great. Janet Jackson and Susanna Hobbs from the Bengals both rocking out to it, so you know it’s good.

“Just Like Heaven” - I think this is a perfect pop song — cover bands can play it, it’s in movies, tv shows, it’s a monster track. The fans loved it.  his one seemed to test Robert Smith the most. Still nailed it, still owned it.

I would’ve liked to hear “Close to Me” // good for them to not play “Friday I’m in Love” and no “Pictures of you” either - Odd Reading Football Club flag next to the drum set. Hard core Hooligan move.

Robert Smith is just so Effing Authentic

Roxy Music - I’d forgotten which songs were their’s. Seems like they were pretty experimental and found a way to have pop sensibilities.

“Love is the Drug” is a song I knew — didn’t know it was them, but that’s a pretty amazing song - and it really holds up.

“More than this” is a song I knew and thought it was the “Moody Blues” who are also Hall of Famers.

HBO cut out their 2 biggest hits from the show - but i found them on YouTube and they were good — kind of a D move by HBO. Though these guys did sneak in 6 songs, which is pure Cajones.

I never would’ve guessed that those two songs were from the same band.

Duran Duran guys are their inductors and that’s awesome. Calls them a “Pop Culture Bomb” on the British Public.  Calls them “Pulp Science Fiction”

Without Roxy Music, there would be know Duran Duran.

These guys were best dressed dudes of the night — and they’ve a ton of Bass Players  — which reminds me of a lesser know band out of Massachusetts called “Drilling Threes”

They open with a jam featuring the Oboe as the lead “hook instrument” - they’ve got a good groove. I don’t know this song, but i like it. “It’s called out of the Blue” from 1974 album Country Life. Crazy Violin at the end — this song is almost 50 years old — it’s good man.

Second jam is a slow jam — good saxophone, good groove. Back up singer dude is loving it — it’s called “Avalon” from 1982 — never heard it before. I’m ok with it. Female back ground singer kills it. Crowd gives her props. This is pretty decent stuff for never hearing it before

Third Jam - also don’t know this one - Cool Synthesizer on this tune - sax, violin, it’s called  "Editions of you"

Somebody should check and see if the United Kingdom has the most inductees to the Rock Hall of Fame - it’s gotta be close.

The Zombies - More British dudes

She’s not there is a Jam, Tell her NO is a jam, Time of the season is a jam

Tom Petty apparently loved these guys. Susanna Hobbs Loved these dudes and inducted them. She’s easily in her 60’s and looks great.

The Seem like sweet old guys - and that’s why they need 2 drummers — their drummer, plus the guy who used to be their drummer who can’t quite do it any more.

Lead Singer can still get it. Harmonies are great. And their Key Board player is apparently a virtuoso, and though he’s an older dude - he RIPS it up on the Hammond B.

Time of the season is the opener — Def Leppard Drummer likes it, Harmonies are literally really great. Bass Line GROOOOOOVES.

Tell her No is second — feels a little “jazz loungish” version of itself to start, but they get there and the harmonies are still great.

She’s not there is EFFFING FIRE - and the crowd agrees. This song just sounds great. They get a real time little jam going in the middle… little Give me some lovin’ melody in the middle, then take it double time, everyone gets a little solo and then back to the chorus. Pretty tight. great way to end it. They’ve super pumped to be there. This was cool.

Def Leppard - HERE WE GO! They killed it, they love each other, great story. And great choice to close the show. Brian May inducts them - big deal.

Joe Elliott struggles a little at the highest falsetto notes… but that’s ok still got the presence and the rest of his tool kit. Harmonies are really tight. The Guitar player - no shirt, he’s absolutely ripped, and like over 60 easily. Good for that guy.

Animal, Hysteria, Love Bites, Armageddon it, Too Late for Love, Rocket, Foolin’ — so many great songs

Rock of Ages, Photograph, Pour Some Sugar — solid AF — Photograph and Pour some Sugar are unassailable choices.

Here’s my take their best song is Photograph / Their bring the house down down song is Pour Some Sugar — it’s just so damn well known.

Took me 20 years to realize how good Photograph is — took planet Earth 20 seconds to realize how good Pour Some Sugar on Me is.

I would’ve liked Hysteria or Animal

the final song “open jam” might have been the worst i can ever remember. Bad song choice, bad execution. Ruined the end of Def Leppard’s set by being adjacent to “Pour some sugar on me”.

Wine, Wall & Dragons - Season 8, episode 6 podcast

Game of Thrones Season 8

Wine, Wall & Dragons Season 8 Episode 6 - the Series Finale

the recurring line of the night was some variation of - they don’t get to choose, she doesn’t get to choose, etc. — in some ways i think that’s appropriate to all the people filing petitions about re-doing Season 8 to HBO. The fans we don’t get to choose. We get to watch.

Tyrion Finds Jamies and Cersei and cries about it

Dany gives Fascist dictator speech in either Dothraki or Valayrian or in Unsullied/Astapor language. We get it. She’s a menace now.

Why doesn’t Dany kill Tyrion as soon as he throws away his “hand pin”?

Arya “Jon you’re a threat to her, you’ll always be a threat to her. I know a killer when I see one”.

Between Tyrion and Arya - Jon’s getting a lot of negative feedback on his Aunt/Paramour/Queen. “love is the death of duty, duty is the death of love”, Aemon Targaryen.

Dany walking up to the Throne, which is so similar to what I think was a dream sequence in like season 2 or so — pretty awesome. Still held out hope for her in some way shape or for at that moment, but as soon as i saw Jon’s shadow in the arch way -  i figured it wouldn’t end well. (drogon covered in snow).

Dany takes one more crack at the old we could be lovers Jon - and he’s like dude really, we’re still in episode 73 going to try to make the incest angle work? But he takes that opening and he stabs Dany while they embrace. Bold move.

Dany’s story has three betrayals. Once for love, once for blood, and once for gold. I think last night night Jon’s actions were the betrayal of blood or love. Could be either.

Why didn’t Drogon burn Jon? (Some are saying it’s cuz he “Can’t be burned like Dany” — i feel like they would’ve shown that at some point if that were the case.

Drogon melts the iron thorne to nothingness. Very symbolic maneuver for a Dragon.

The 3 best spinoff ideas i’ve heard… Arya’s adventures “West of Westeros”, Tormund and Jon in a “buddy cop type show”. I think if Tormund were the main character and Jon was around every few episodes… that’d be ideal.

The Arya spinoff show would be amazing. Arya comparisons to Columbus — let’s not do that to Arya.

Edmure Tully with the weirdest flex of ALL-TIME - at the council meeting trying to make the case for his “kingship”. Bro you’ve been gone since season 6 and were a prisoner of the Frey’s for 3 seasons before that… HAVE A SEAT. You might want to sit the next couple of plays out, Champ.

What happened in Las Vegas? To all the money gambled.

#1) the iron throne is melted down to nothing so nobody sits upon it. #2) Dany had it before Jon killed her 3) Bran is the King of the 6 kingdoms and 4) which means Sansa is a queen in her own right?

Sam: Let’s have a democracy? Brings out the LOLZ from the nobles.

Tyrion essentially makes Bran “the Broken” a King. Bran’s like yeah i knew it! Bran the Broken - not a great nickname for a king.

Also, how about the progressive north finally coming around to a female ruler full-time — nice work Sansa

Bran giving the North “independence” — that was nice, but don’t we think that Yara and the Prince of Dorne are going to declare their own independence within like 48 hours of this “Great council meeting”? Both Kingdoms love declaring independence, they have for over a century.

I like Jon beyond the wall - because the Wall doesn’t need a Watch with a giant hole in it, the wildlings are pretty cool with the northerners and the Night King is Dead.

More importantly, the wall is no longer part of the seven kingdoms, the wall is part of the North - So, technically isn’t is sansa’s decision to send Jon to the wall.

Also - Grey Worm got played — he let them elect Bran King and then Bran was like you can’t kill Jon.

Bronn gets Highgarden - Seems like there have been an unusually high number of warden’s of the south. good luck to Bronn.

Small Council - Bronn (Master of Coin), Brienne of Tarth (King’s Guard), Sam (Maester), Tyrion (Hand), Davos (Master of Ships). Is Bran going to “warg into Drogon” - he mentions that he’ll try to find them.

Tormund lives, Jon is reunited with Ghost, the Unsullied ship off for Naath.

Unanswered question - was Tyrion a Targaryen?  Can Sam still be with Gilly if he’s a Maester? What’s up with Daario Naharis in Mereen?

Last one - what happened with Meera Reed. Bran’s the king, she lugged him to safety time and time again. Lost her brother, and he sent her packing.

Would Cersei Winning or the Night King winning have been more satisfying than this ending?

The Starks were down 3-0 in the series at one point. Ned died, Catelyn and Robb died. Sansa went through hell. Bran was stuck in a tree and Hodor saved him. Rickon never had a shot. The dire wolves were all dropping like flies. Jon got stabbed by his own men at Castle Black, Arya went blind and was being hunted by an assassin. Yet. at the end of the day, when the winds of winter blow, the lone wolf dies but the pack survives.

And now it’s spring in the realm and they’re going back on their separate ways. Jon gets to be free. Sansa is a queen. Bran is the King and Arya is going to the edge of the world on adventures. The Starks were the first “good guys” of this series. And they for the most part won. People should be happy for them.

Wine, Wall & Dragons - Season 8, episode 5 Podcast

Wine, Wall & Dragons Season 8 Episode 5 - the penultimate episode of the entire series

Have a feeling this episode might be an epic of GOT

Places listening: Cherry Hill, NJ wins big, Cornelius NC and Charlotte NC, Barcelona, Ashfield Australia, Makati City Philippines, Alexandria Egypt,

United Kingdom, Australia, Canada, Spain, Egypt, Philippines and finally Iran.

Varys is writing a note to send via Raven about Jon’s true identity. A little girl appears to be working with Varys on poisoning Dany’s food. Varys has made “his choice”.

Jon Snow returns - he and Varys are chatting on the beach. Varys wants “the right ruler on the iron throne”. Every time a Targaryen is born the world holds its breath.

Jon says, “she is my queen”

Tyrion tries to see Dany in the Dragonstone “Map Room”. Dany knows exactly how Varys found out. They’ve got Dany looking “Strung out”. She’s fixated on getting the “Win” at all costs.

Greyworm and the unsullied come and get Varys. He knows he’s in trouble. Leave’s his rings behind.

Tyrion “tells on himself” to Varys. Varys says “he hopes he’s wrong. Good bye old friend.” Takes it like a pro.

Drogon pops in out of nowhere and burns Varys to a crisp.

Dany, sitting by the fire - she gives Greyworm Missende’s necklace. He throws it in the fire. Jon Snow comes by for a chat.

Jon says, “i don’t want it”. “Far more people in Westeros love you than love me.”

Jon and Dany with another love scene gone awry.

Tyrion is trying to “reason with Dany”… she’s playing for blood. Tyrion begs her to call of the attack if they ring the bells. She never verbally agrees with that request.

Dany tells Tyrion that she’s captured Jamie. “Next time you fail me, will be the last time you fail me.”

Meanwhile at King’s Landing, Cersei is opening the gates for all kinds of “Small-folk” to use them as a deterrent for a siege. Probably not a good look for those folks.

Dany’s army has gotten bigger again. Davos is in the house.

Tyrion asks Davos for a Favor.

Hound and Arya arrive to the party.

Tyrion wants to be alone with Jamie. Tyrion is going to release Jamie. Jamie’s back to being a heel. Tyrion has an escape plan for them. Tyrion is a dumb dude. He’s trying to do the right thing, but he’s aligned with the wrong people to do it.

Ominous Cello Music - and there’s Euron Greyjoy.

Arya and the hound rolling right into the City - he’s wearing a hood, she’s not. Jamie rolls into the city.

Golden Company (Sans Elephant) are ready.

Cersei looks out onto the City — she’s feeling pretty Glib it seems.

Jamie Gets shut out of the City — Arya and Hound are the last two into the walls.

The wind picks up. Euron looks at the sky, Drogo is in Free Fall — Navy shoots and missed and Dany is Blowing up ships left and right with Drogon.

The Gates of the city explode - Drogon goes nuclear on the Golden Company. Elephant wouldn’t have mattered.

I kind of love it!

Tyrion walking amidst the bodies outside the walls. Kyburn tries to tell Cersie it’s over. She’s in full delusion mode.

Jon is in a standoff with the Lannister Men. Lannister’s Tap out

Slow Motion - Dany coming straight for the Read Keep

Bells Ringing but she’s come too far — i agree with Dany’s decision to come for Cersei — but burning the people in the streets seems a bit much. And Grey Worm Snaps and the the fighting resumes. Bloodshed upon bloodshed.

Once you defeat the Night King. Humans really aren’t a match any longer.

Cersei realizes she is no longer the coldest killer in the 7 kingdoms.

Full Heel turn — but i still feel like Dany is an antihero versus a villain.

Jon is horrified. He has to kill one of his own guys.

Jamie and Euron  have a standoff. Of course Euron comes ashore at the exact spot Jamie’s at.

Jamie gets stabbed with his own sword?

Cersei keeps saying the Red Keep is safe place. Has she seen Drogon?

Kyburn takes Cersei to Maegor’s Holdfast.

Jamie gets stabbed again. But drives a Sword all the way through Euron… he says “another King for you, but I got you.” “I’m the man who killed Jamie Lannister”.

Quite the showman

Hound and Arya - He saves her from herself perhaps? “Sandor, thank you”

Here we go! Clegane Bowl. “Hello Big Brother”

The Mountain Smashes Kyburn like a bug!”

Cersei leaves, Hound v Mountain

Jamie shows up for Cersei — it’s pretty pathetic that they give these two “a hero’s embrace”.

Hound puts sword all the way through the mountain… he’s not quite phased. Pulls sword back out.

Arya gets trampled upon. Hound is in trouble vs. mountain. Both fighting for the lives.

Cool how they show Arya and Hound taking similar “bumps” in their respective battles.

Hound stabs mountain like 12 times.

Mountain does for the eye ball smash.

Hound puts knife in mountains head.. He pulls it out.

Hound flips and charges him, they both fall out of a tower and into a raging inferno

Arya is alive and covered in ash and blood. Probably in concussion protocol. She avoids a tower closing in on her. Ends up with a bunch of scared civilians including the lady who saved her. She’s gonna lead an escape of the city.

The Dothraki are having a field day in the city.

Jamie and Cersei are in the Basement in the hold fast with all of the Dragon Skulls. Jamie’s way out is sealed shut.

Cersei wants her baby to live, and doesn’t want to die. She had like a million chances for it to not come to this.

Jamie “Nothing else matters, only us.” Jamie and Cersei get buried under the entire castle.

Arya somehow still alive - Looks like she’s in the will Smith movie where he’s the only person left in NYC.

Arya finds a lone horse - that’s fortuitous. Is this horse real? Or is she dead? She rides out of dodge.

Fade to Black - hell of an episode. Jamie, Cersei, Varys, all dead. Mountain, Hound, Euron, Kyburn, all dead.

It’s dragon season so #DragonSeason

How bad were people craving Game of Thrones - Dan and Dan Ruttle watched the final episode of Season 7 in a storefront on south street in Philadelphia with a drifter  who was drinking a liter of vodka.

Who flies the 3rd dragon? Jon Snow, Tyrion, Bran? Maybe Dany and Jon’s love child?

We’ve been promised a WTF moment? Is it Cersei getting killed by Night’s King (when he drops into Kings Landing via dragon?)

Is it Jon or Dany dying while engaged in a dragon fight with Night’s King? Lots of Dragon fighting in this Fire & Blood prequel book i’m reading at the moment.

A hope for spring is likely the last episode - I think Dany or Jon or their love child is back on Dragon Stone, or more likely smuggled away to Essos with 3 more dragon eggs.

I think there’ll be a hint of a new generation of Dragons to win back Westeros.

I think the Night King wins… but the Epilogue is that summer will come again, as will the "Targaryen Snow Love Child”.

True Detective Season 3 Finale podcast and Game of Thrones season 8 hot takes

True detective season 3 finale - podcast

The one eyed man wanted to be “killed or taken to jail” but wasn’t.

The ending was happy for Julie - and that was the plot twist. 1) it was surprising 2) it was pretty unsatisfying- does that make us “jerks”

Did they ever really talk about what happened to Hays’ wife, Amelia Reardon?

Julie did get a happy ending - but pretty much nobody else did.

Season 1 characters were deliberately mentioned shown by the crime reporter.  This excites me in the sense that with these worlds connected, perhaps we’ll get a season 4 and those characters could somehow be involved again.

Game of Thrones predictions- GRRM has two books that are unfinished, “the winds of winter” and “a hope for spring”

Based off of those alone - my prediction is a dark season in which almost all of the characters we care about are killed (likely by the Night’s King/ Army of the Dead/ White Walkers).

I think Dany having 2 dragons and the fact that she’s likely going to have a child with her nephew Aka Jon Snow are the two biggest factors for “an eventual hope for spring”.

I think we see a glimpse of whatever that hope is at the very end... but I think Westeros goes to the nights king north of the Neck.

The best worst case scenario - Dany has the ability to defend dragon stone - but all of Westeros goes “zombie”.

Nothing good will happen for the living until Cersei is dead - also burn Cersei- cuz she def shouldn’t get to come back as a white walker.

Will Cersei and Kyburn make some deal w the  night king?

Will Bran be a force for good or is he the Nights King?

True Detective Season 3 podcast (spoiler alert thru Episode 6)

True Detective Season 3 podcast - through episode 6

Going back to the concept of following the same main characters at multiple time periods in their lives was the absolute right move. This may have been the secret sauce of season  1, because this season is clever and original, but borrowing that angle is really helping.

Season 2 had nothing to do with it and of course - season 2 was a nightmare. The only thing I remember from our 2015 podcast in which you and i spoke at the end of the final season 2 episode was you starting the interview with and I quote, “It was so bad, it was so bad, it was so bad.”

I like the 3rd moment in time (old age in 2015 for the characters), in addition to the 1980 and 1990 vantage points, which are much like the season 1 time difference.

Mahershala Ali plays Detective Wayne Hays to a tee. Stephen Dorff as Roland West - great to see Stephen Dorff again.

I didn’t necessarily have a problem with the casting in season two as much as the lack of “Cleverness”.

Creator Nic Pizzolatto is also directing a lot of this season’s episodes and they’ve been good.

Season 2 came out in 2015 about 18 months after season 1 debuted in January of 2014.

HBO did a great job of giving Pizzolatto essentially 3.5 years to develop, film and release season 3. That was, I think the missing piece of season 2… they had to rush, and that killed the cleverness.

I'm not as creeped out by this season yet, but after episode 6 I kind of like where it’s going. It’s like I know where it’s going, but still think i’ll be pretty surprised. I think Hays and West are going to be seen in a really “negative light” by whatever “that thing they did” in 1990.

Fun Fact: They filmed in Arkansas near Fayetteville and U of Arkansas. Apparently Pizzolatto went to college there and wrote the episodes with that area in mind.

Carmen Ejogo as Amelia Reardon. Really like her portrayal of this character. Also interesting theories that this character is involved with the murder of the Purcell by and the disappearance of Julie Purcell.

Tidbits - the framing of the Vietnam vet Woodard biting them in 1990 with Julie’s reappearance

The mother definitely seems in on the disappearance

I feel really bad for the father , Tom Purcell, played by Scoot McNairy - tough road of it.

We acknowledge that 1) People talk to themselves 2) People talk to their pets, as if their pets can understand human language verbatim 3) people talk to their plants - this show was basically a really complicated version of “what’s the least weird behavior of those three.

Cuz Westworld has Hosts, created by humans that long to be human/ have free will, Humans that long to be immortal, and the study of human behavior yielding research that humans can’t be hosts because they’re only hardwired to survive, but that makes them un-replicibale, which actually means that our survival instincts are precisely why doctor ford/ delos can’t make us immortal. And my answer is WHO CARES!?!?!!?

They set up a potentially terrible or potentially interesting season 3 — but essentially none of the stars will be on the show — or they will, but they’ll be rebuilt.

There’s no struggle that I care about, there’s no remaining charter that I care about — I feel as disappointed and angry as when Jeremy Johnson comes on and talks about Politics and the deep state and the corporate takeover of america — that’s not a good thing HBO

11,927th trial of delores on bernard is the opening

Delores confronts man in black.

Maeve makes a comeback in a big way with the help of a ton of hosts.

Delores / man in black / Bernard meet up. william tries to shoot delores but she’s immune - pretty much leaves him for dead

Deleores is with Bernard / but so is Charlotte Hale (well some version of Bernard)

They are “in the forge” - 4 million guests “lives” are on record.

Here’s the deal:

Maeve saved her daughter

Ake and many others are “safe in their new world”

Man in Black is stuck in a cell forever like James Delos (has he been dead this whole time)?

Charlotte Hale gets shot by her own “host” twin - who says if you want to live for ever, be careful what you wish for

Delores is dead (in terms of Evan Rachel wood version

Bernard is still going to be “at odds with Delores” on the outside

Handsome security guy let’s Charlotte Hale/ new Delores “Out of west world” — she has the “mind database orbs” of 4 or 5 of the key hosts.

Is this their way of trimming all of the fat? Long way to go.

Season 3 will either be riveting or a spectacular disaster — but somehow, I think I’ll watch. Don’t think I’ll podcast about it — but it might be the train wreck I need to see.

Overall season 2 was more disjointed and confusing than season 1 (which was a tall feat) and they unfortunately achieved it

Episode 9 June 16, 2018

Man in Black and his daughter:

If the man in black is such a miserable piece of crap to his family and in the real world — why did he choose the black hat role in west world all the time?

Why’d he even mess with the white hat role in season 1 ?

If Man in Black always knew that west world was a data mining expedition, why’d he even partake in it?

Man in Black’s story of how/ why his wife committed suicide is a long way to go, but at least there’s a tie in — he kills his real life daughter in a fake place because he thinks she’s a fake.

The mother was some type of substance abuser - mainly to make up for the fact that Man in black was the worst. He’s called a virus and a phony. the daughter wants to have the mother committed to a rehab facility.

the mother gets william to spill the beans though. and then kills herself. but that’s a long way to go, to end up shooting his daughter in west world.

we keep hearing that william is a lie — whats his lie

Delores and Teddy: Teddy kills himself instead of going to the valley beyond with Delores — that was very surprising - what’s the use of surviving if we end up like them.

Clementine gets “suped up” with Maeve’s powers to get the hosts to kill each other  — seems to be Charlotte Hale’s plan to destroy the remaining hosts.

Ford and William at a reception in real world - Ford gives him his “data history” and cryptically says “perhaps one more game.”

Why don’t we like doctor ford more??  Also, he’s using bernard to leave Maeve a message. If Ford and Maeve team up — i like it. Ford talks to Maeve about how he wanted her to escape. she was “his fave”

Ford basically tells Maeve to keep fighting

Bernard ditches Elsie - cuz of course he did - cuz ford wanted him to kill her.

Is Westworld good? Even HBO mustn't be sure any more

Westworld Season 2

Places listening. Mountain View CA. Rancho Cucamonga CA - Bonn Germany, Cape Town South Africa

Skuabumi Indonesia

Perth Australia and Wellington New Zealand

Topless podcast - in honor of summer time

Is anybody on this show worth rooting for any longer? Bernard no, Delores not really, Charlotte Hale no, Dr. Ford (wildcard), Man in black - prob not - but i can see HBO wanting us to turn in favor of him. All i see is Maeve,  and they may have ruined her character or at least her storyline.

What do you want to see happen in the next 2 episodes to get you back in?

Do you even wanted them to succeed? Or would you be secretly bummed if they did?

Westworld should be a Netflix show - it’s too dense to keep track — and the "binge ability” of netflix would help viewers retain important details.

Episode 8 June 9, 2018

Man in Black - shot to pieces, crawling towards a street. For an old man — he’s resilient

Ghost Nation guy  finds Man in Black — he tells man in black “i remember you” — prob not gonna be good for him

Ghost Nation also has Maeve’s Daughter - daughter having flash backs when Maeve was her mom

British writer guy is trying to save Maeve

Ghost Nation dude gives us his origin story - another back story that was nice and went to hell in West World

Ghost Nation guy found the “westworld” map/ center of the maze design — and then they gave the ghost nation guy a “new life” - and made him a warrior.

Ghost nation dude finds William’s brother in law dude - Logan — can’t believe we’re circling back to pick him up

Ghost Nation guy found the passage to the real world aka Delos “base”

Tries to leave with his “former wife” from a former “life” - kidnaps her - Washes off his war paint - to win her back - yada yada yada

Ghost Nation dude’s name is Ake — and he tells her that he thinks he found the way out of westworld

Delos stole his lady friend before they could escape  - and they replaced her with someone new — so he lost his lady. We get it HBO it’s a cruel world for these robots

Maeve’s Daughter helped Ghost Nation dude “on his darkest day” — ok so that’s a “loop closer” - which i guess is nice.

Heart Shaped Box on the piano — they love Nirvana on the Piano on this show

Ake lived for 9 years without dying in his narrative - interesting — he also finds all the decommissioned hosts — lost of “weener shots” but he finds his lady Kohana - but she’s decommissioned.

British writer guy “finds Remorse” for Maeve’s plight. What is the purpose of this show ??? But then - Maeve is “awake and playing possum”

Ake is spreading the “gospel of the Woke” — the symbol of the man inside the maze — and he and Dr. Ford get to have a “face to face”

Anthony Hopkins says - Keep watching, for a while longer — is that a plea to us as viewers ????

Who is the “Deathbringer”? Delores / Wyatt ??

Man in Black’s Daughter  shows up to barter for her dad. Love how she’s fluent in their robot/ native langue // She’s going full heel turn on the man in black (or so it seems)

Back to Maeve - in the lab — on the operating table - Charlotte Hale shows up — and it looks like she programed Ake to watch over her daughter - cliffhanger ending - does Maeve die or live??? Tune in for Episode “niner” methinks

Episode 7 June 2, 2018

The episode in which Doctor Ford comes back inside of Bernard - he essentially tells bernard “he’s not up to survival” - kinda like delores telling that to Teddy.

I’m pissed about how they built Maeve up to bring her down so unceremoniously

Opening Handsome Security guy and Bernard - can picked up by bald “park emergency damage control guy”

Charlotte Hale and the aforementioned crew discover that Bernard has a zillion “droid versions of himself”

Charlotte Hale essentially water boards Bernard - tries getting info from him

Tactically “badass team” gets absolutely WORKED by Delores’ crew

Dr. Ford makes a reappearance - And explains to Bernard that the guests are the experiments and the hosts are the controls

Ford calls the human mind the last analog device in a digital world

The hosts essentially are there so that humans can become “immortal”

Dr. Ford promised “bernard a fighting chance and he wants to make good on it”. The Valley Beyond is where they’re all going, why? “isn’t the pleasure of a story discovering the end yourself, Bernard?”

Man in Black / show down with Maeve and her daughter - she does an unbelievable job at showing the man in black a world of pain — but he lives and she essentially is left for dead again — this is when it turned for me — but episode 8 gave me a little promise

As good as Maeve is with her host control — she sucks against humans.

System “debugged itself” which is essentially Bernard absorbing Ford’s consciousness

The Delores / Charlotte Hale Face to Face is pretty good

Can’t believe Charlotte and Handsome Security guy (ashley) escape - Especially since all other humans got wrecked

Delores lets Maeve Live — I think that’s important

bernard’s inner conflict with dr. ford is annoying — and bernard is gonna lead charlotte hale and delos to the Valley Beyond

Episode 6 May 27, 2018

Delores and Bernard flash back to him being frightened about what she might become/ says is she outgrows “this place, what will become of you?”

But Delores is now in charge of Bernard - and she’s “testing him” instead of the other way around — and she uses the line that young william used on his father in law in episode for. This is a test, what are you testing for, fidelity?

We’re back at the saloon and Delores is playing the piano and “new Teddy walks in” - he’s all business.. She seems more confused than pleased with his transformation.

Handsome security guy back in the now destroyed base and Charlotte Hale just showed up. Only “a week” has elapsed since the Ford shooting in season one. Charlotte Hale has Abernathy. She also has a “tool to call for help” to Delos.

The security guys Nail abernathy with nail gun to the operating chair

Next Shogun world - Maeve’s group has murdered all of the shogun’s people - Akane kills herself to mourn her daughters death ???? No…. she might’ve cut out her dead daughter’s heart “WTF?”

Maeve goes to rescue her friends — but we get a samurai fight instead - fun to get a sword fight - but I don’t care about the characters, so I don’t care about the sword fight

Good samurai beats bad samurai for those keeping score at home.

Man in Black, his daughter and Laurence are all on horse back — Man in Black thinks that his daughter is a droid - she shoots some ghost nation dudes.

Bernard and Elsie touring the “base/ control center” - heavy exposition in this episode thus far.

“QA” is fighting “the cradle” in terms of hacking the systems - essentially that’s why the humans can’t get things under control.

Maeve’s crew is walking towards a mount Fuji type replica. Writer dude and the two tech assistant humans are looking for a portal out of their situation. There’s a Coy Pond and Akane drops her daughter’s heart off in sometime of shine there. The shoguns aren’t going with Maeve — SOOOOO again, why the departure to Shogun World.

William’s daughter and he at the Campfire. She has potential beef with Charlotte Hale. She definitely is a bit of moral adversary to Man in Black’s thirst for the robot’s fighting back. But, she also said that she shouldn’t have blamed the mom’s death on him. She’s looking to “take him home” and keep him from committing suicide by robot. Man in Black seems to be agreeable to leaving WestWorld for “the beach” to get out. That seems very far fetched. And it is — Man in Black leaves his daughter while she sleeps.

Elsie and Bernard are at the “Cradle” aka a hive mine / server room of all the Droids and Ford or Bernard put data there. Bernard is having a flash back. The “Ball” Bernard “lifted” from sector 23 is something he’s remembering. And Elsie and Bernard just hooked his brain up to the mainframe. Bernard is now on the “west world entry train” We’re literally back at the first episode first scene

Handsome Security guy runs into new commando unit guy named Coughlin.

Maeve and the crew escape from Shogun world through a portal back to a cemetery in west world - it’s her old stomping grounds prior to the saloon arch. Maeve is going to find her daughter “alone” without her crew… again much ado about nothing // Maeve finds her old house on the prairie

She’s talking to her daughter (is this girl really here)? Oh man she is — and she’s got a replacement mom. And the Ghost Nation is about to attack them — WHY CAN’T MAEVE CONTROL  GHOST NATION - CAN’T SHE CONTROL ALL OF THEM??? That’s a flaw in the story it seems

British writer guy sis calling for “help” from QA.

Delores and Teddy are on the train heading somewhere

Man in black under attack from the Ghost Nation guys

Special Ops team gets the map back up,,, in time for delores’s train caper - which she crashes into the base

And Bernard is back in the first scene of the series following Delores — and Dr. Ford is playing the piano at the end of the episode ??? Weird - long way to go - not sure we needed shogun world

Did West World Season 2 just jump the shark or is it Crazy like a Fox

West World Season 2 - Delores is not Shredder from Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles

is west world crazy for going to the shogun world angle, or crazy like a fox?

Places listening - UK second / Colombia third  (Ashburn VA #2 this week Props to Frankfurt Germany, Lima Peru and Hengelo Netherlands

Curtis Fingers watched a Derek Lowe tribute on NESN? And got teary eyed?

Possible Silver linings —

Maeve realizing she has telepathy mind control in any language may have been a necessary evil

The man in Black’s daughter showing up / right after the decided that the live forever project is the wrong thing - could prove interesting

This is classic early in the series epic saga HBO move — you take the long way home, everybody starts to get a little impatient and then… BOMB SHELL

Delores is essentially building a mutant droid army - even Teddy wasn’t safe - i predict she makes Man in Black’s role miserable

I think once the explain delores’ dad’s deal with Charlotte Hale and the Delos Board — we finally should be able to go back down the funnel to a more succinct story line with more of a zero sum game plot line

Episode five May 20, 2018

Back to Maeve and the Samurai World peeps - Her power over them isn’t working like it did in west world. We learn the the Samurai world is for people who think west word is too tame.

“Paint it black” plays on a japanese instrumental arrangement — and the Japanese droids are just samurai versions of the the westworld gang. British writer guy mentions that he didn’t have enough time of character development and therefore they’re basically the same characters. Fun “meta wrinkle”

Maeve speaks Japanese — i like the wrinkle of bizarro west world - Maeve escapes

Back in West World Delores and Teddy stumble onto Sweetwater again and everybody is dead as usual

Delores and Teddy are out on the Range - thought Delores was gonna kill Teddy just then

Maeve is ready to kick it with the SHOGUN and his army - he cut off their ears so avoid Maev’s mind control — but she’s got mind control now — so it shouldn’t matter write.

Teddy and Delores finally have a bonetownScene

And then she double crossed Teddy - and they just did some crazy alterations to Teddy’s settings - likely to make him meaner

Wow WuTang 36 chambers on the Japanese flute / fiddle/ etc C.R.E.A.M. cash rules everything around me - And a Decapitation of the Shogun by Akane  - BOOOM Roasted — since he killed Sakura

And Maeve gets all the dudes to kill each other with telepathy

Episode four May 13, 2018

Elsie Comes back — Bernard has had her chained up in like sector 22 or 23 — and he keeps having flashbacks to previous trips to this facility

Bernard is at the center of the whole darn thing — we keep thinking he’s a mope or loser or getting played — but i think it’s obvious he’s not in control of himself and who ever programmed him still has a chance of “winning” at this contest.

Elsie explains to him that his memories aren’t anchored sequentially - which explains more about why he’s so confused — and likely why we’re all so confused.

Jim the father in law is “what they were making” in Sector 23 — and when Elsie and Bernard find him — he’s in a really bad spot. Bernard effs him up. We get a poignant quote about the devil not being real but the reflection of god laughing back at him

Interesting when William sees Jim as an older man. Explains that he’s hit a “Cognitive Plateau” He’s been brought back 149 times. He’s lasted 35 days this time around. So, William is basically coming around to abandoning the idea of Delos and living forever. “People aren’t meant to live forever”. "The world is better off without you Jim, possibly without me”.

Bernard mentions that another “live forever printer” is created but we don’t know for who - my guess is man in black. Also Elsie trusting Bernard (BAD IDEA JEANS)

Also the scene where the droids kill all of the scientists and then themselves  at Bernards command and then he curb stomps the last guy — crazy scene and Elsie is screwed methinks.

Does Elsie look a lot different than she did in season 1?

The Facility with the faceless droids - is trashed — we find out that bernard ordered it to be trashed.

The confederados capture the man in black and Laurence

The scene with Young William and his father in law in (Jim) the chamber — is Delos’ play making people immortal? The guy died but they somehow have maintained at least a portion of his consciousness. The actor playing Jim is really good at the part where he’s not programmed to keep going

Man in Black tells the confederado he knows how to find “Glory” — when he shoots the bartender’s hand off - I think i’m supposed to hate the guy… but I just don’t really care about him.

Confederado talks about “death being an old friend of his” — and Man in Black hits him with some hot truth — death is the only thing that’s true — and then he stabs him in the throat with a broken bottle and lights up the whole crew. and then he makes the guy drink the “nitro” and let’s Laurence blow him to bits.

Laurence’s daughter tries to call William out (as Ford)  one good deed doesn’t undue everything else.- William says he’s going to play the game to the bone, and she says then you still don’t understand the game we’re playing, if you’re looking forward, you’re looking in the wrong direction.

Also man in black’s real life wife killed herself

Handsome security guy and the lady who almost go eaten by a tiger are with the Native American tribe — and the lady just ran off into the woods. The lady who ran off in the woods is Willam’s real life daughter. WOWZERS, now we’re talking

Westworld Season Two Break down show (Eps 1-3) w/ Andrew Patterson

Westworld Season 2

Episode three May 6, 2018

Opening scene - White Stripes “7 Nation Army” plays on the Sitar — is this a young Doctor Ford and his wife or something? crazy shooting scene by the lady he’s trying to seduce on his Indian safari — not Doctor Ford - different part of the park. more hosts killing guests — including the tiger robot

Elephants? the budget for this show is nuts

Bernard/Arnold and Charlotte Hale looking for Peter Abernathy Droid (delores’ dad)

Delores is getting her “wyatt on” and i’m wondering how we’re going to feel about her at the end of the season.

Maeve’s little view has encountered the native warriors -and she’s having flashbacks. And they are running for their lives

Delores encounters her Father and Bernard. And she tosses Bernard in jail with the other humans — not good for Charlotte Hale’s agenda at all

Snake Tattoo lady is back - with a flame thrower - and the two techs from last season appear - felix and the other guy with the beard. Thought they were dead

bernard working on delores’ dad — and discovers the encryption that charlotte wants

standoff between delores’ army and the park’s swat team.

Bernard is face to face with Clementine - she knocks him out

Teddy lets confederado dudes live — gonna be beef with Wyatt

Lady who got attacked by Tiger is now in Native Warrior country - tough day for her

Samurai coming at Maeve in final scene - cliff hanger

Who won episode? not the park’s swat team

Who lost episode? Delores - lost her dad and lost Teddy’s loyalty

Gratuitous nudity? None really

Most mind blowing thing? Mostly straight forward episode

Episode two April 29, 2018

Interesting City setting beginning to the episode with Arnold and Delores - wondering “when in time” this is supposed to be

Delores, Teddy and everybody crashes the base - and Delores says she “knows what the outside” world is like - and the piano plays that “Kayne song here’s a toast to the D-Bags aka Runaway fast as you can.

Seems to be a “flash back” to young william and his brother in law, Logan. - Just realizing this is pre-west world park being built — he’s a dinner party with all “robots” and has no idea.

Logan has week facial hair for a bearded guy on his left side

Man in black and Laurence alluding to the fact that Westworld been tallying the sins of every guest

Delores is suing the “techs” to build her an army

The scope and scale of this level of story telling is incredible

Young “William” helicopters into westworld with his “dad or father in-law” - he says the guests are real - and essentially lays out the business plan for why westworld is a business.

I still can’t believe that McPoyle is a lead in this series.

Face to Face: Maeve and Delores  - going to be interesting to see their paths weave in and out

Delores face to face with the Confederados - she lights up their whole crew and they’re gonna reboot them all to follow her. Heck of a growth plan.

Why isn’t the “Park’s power shut down yet?” - how can the rehab tech still use his software to revive Robots?

Young william sees Delores at a party with his wife and kids at a retirement party.

Is that Gustavo from Breaking Bad ???? Yup! The new “bandito revolution honcho” talking to man in black…

Who won the episode? Young William for getting westworld built?

Who lost the episode? Probably Logan - seems like he ended up some type of heroine addict of something // or old william for letting Delores know “about the weapon she can use to destroy humans”.

Gratuitous nudity of the episode? Looks like the Rehab center - bunch of naked Robots on the floor

Most mind blowing moment? The mass bandito Suicide that prevented man in black from getting an army — Dr. Ford keeps needling Man in Black

premier April 22, 2018 on HBO

Who won the episode? anybody who is still alive one. probably Delores

Who lost the episode? ahhhh humans?

Gratuitous nudity of the episode? only males really - such a season 2 fad: dudes nude

Most mind blowing moment? bernards brain goo is running out — also he’s both with handsome security guy and Charlotte Hale in separate story lines at once

Forgot how long the intro song with the player piano was

Here's a question for you to ponder - what the first crazy thing that's gonna happen on “The Deuce"?

Sansa and Arya first meeting - solid banter - and who keeps all those tourhes lit in the crypt

Arya’s first talk with Brann - Arya’s a real hugger - Brann gives her Valyrian Steel  - BOOM ! He’s on a bad acid trip

Brienne of Tarth and Podrick

Meanwhile on Dragonstone - girl talk between Dany and Messandre - Jon found the motherland of Dragon Glass and Cave Drawings from the Children of the Forest - and the first men — against the White Walkers — all on the cave walls — very accurate pictures

Dany is pissed at Tyrion — questioning loyalty — and she’s ready to roll to the Red Keep with the dragons.

Brienne is “working Podrick” - Arya wants to learn from Brienne of Tarth - but she works her — full combat fencing class

Davos is such a fan of Messandre - “she is the Queen we Chose”

Jon Snow is not pumped to see Theon for the first time - and “the Queen is gone” — is she gonna melt the offs (doug brown quote) - Flogging Stragglers - fake band name of the week

Dothraki + Dragons = Certain Death

Dickon Tarly saves Jamie — Bronn??? He’s got the Dragon Cross bow thing

Random Dothraki to Tyrion, “your people can’t fight”.

Jamie ? 80 pounds of armor in the water/ lake - bad news

Game of Thrones Podcast - Season 7 - Episode 1

Wine Wall & Dragons  Game of Thrones Season 7 - Episode 1

First off - rewatched pretty much all of season 6 today — they could not have set the stage better for season 7

Second - there are about 14 episodes left — 7 this year — the sixth book (unfinished) is called “The Winds of Winter” and the 7th book is supposed to be called “A Hope for Spring” - this leads me to believe that this season is going to be DARK AS EFF

Places Listening - Seoul South Korea #2 and Philadelphia #1

DOB are you in or out on Danny McBride’s "Vice Principals” - What about Dwayne the Rock Johnson’s “Ballers”?

Also "Curb your enthusiasm" is coming back in October, hot DANG!

Which Character will surprise us the most? Little Finger is likely to make a major play and be a major fly in the ointment?

DOB Hot take — we’re kind of out of gas with Jamie and Cersei — but, Dorne Sandsnakes, Lady Olyanna and Varys have something up their sleeves at end of season 6.

Opening Scene - Walder Frey is “Alive” - which means that Arya is wearing his face — this is badass already

Bel Big DeVoe’s “poison” is Arya’s new theme song - cuz she just poisoned all of the Frey’s to death

Next scene - a winter storm - it’s likely the night’s king — ahhhh yup and his whole crew of icy banditos - guessing they’re marching south and WON WOON is now one of them - EEEEK - well one of wun wun’s family members more accurately

Bran Stark is at the Wall with Meera - good to have him on the south of the border.

Jon Snow and Sansa are having their first public spat - little finger loves it. Of course he does - they are really “telegraphing this breach" between them.

Cersei and Jamie - talking war strategy - we need allies, stronger bigger allies — Euron Greyjoy ? Since they “cut to him and his crew” - and I’m right. Damn this is so black and white

ohhhhh cersei might marry the crow’s eye. And he’s dressed like Mick Jaggar

greatest captain of the 14 seas - there are 14 seas ????

The Citadel and master training with sam early. bed pan duty - funny little montage - reminded me of pink floyd’s money intro - but sam gets interested in  the restricted section on the library

maester cadaver is hanging dong on coroners table.

The arch master is way too confident in the wall working

The courtship of Brienne by the willing with the beard — Little Finger is gonna have an interesting season.

Arya on horse back - listening to a real crooner (ED SHEERAN?)

Thoros of Myr and Berrik Dondarrion back with the Hound - what was the significance of that dead father and girl? was that from like season 2?

Thoros of Myr shows the hound the flames - he sees east watch by the sea and the army of the dead — the hound is a changed man

dragon stone has a bevy of dragon glass — course it does — also Jorah Mormot is at citadel - for  big realm, everyone seems to meet up

Cue the Puff Daddy - Dany is coming home

Varys seems to have lost a few pounds on the overseas vouyage - looking smooth Varys

DragonStone and a SWEET ASSS THRONE - And Stannis’ old wooden table

HBO "West World" Episode 10 - Season Finale Analysis and Outlandish Theories

West World Episode 10

Places Listening Ashburn, VA/ Denver, CO / Cebu, Phillippines  Berwood East, Australia, and Charlotte, NC in 5th place

Egypt, Peru and the Dutch Part of St. Maarten

Who Won the episode?  Dr Ford (unquestioned) - Do you Label Delores a winning or a loser?  Gotta give Bernard a strong win?

Who Lost the episode — nominees Charlotte Hale (Tessa Thompson) — Logan (as called by Andrew Patterson) — Maeve’s free will (correctly called by Andrew Patterson)

Gratuitous Nudity - Armistice I’d say - tons for choices — but she may have won for the entire season  in this episode

Most mind blowing moment - Ahhhhh Ford orchestrating his own demise while vowing full well, everything else

Questions - Does the Board (Charlotte hale / Man in Black, etc) know Bernard is a Host???? Felix now does, but I don’t think they do. He might be a HUGE double agent type in season two.

Do Maeve and Delores beef in season two? I doubt it - I think the Wyatt Character is too powerful

What’s up with those Samurai? Felix (Leanardo Nam) said there's “a complicated” explanation

Opening scene - Arnold making / turning on Delores

Next Scene - Delores shaving Man in Black - Delores in the town (where Teddy and Wyatt shot up people)

Question - How did the books spin this story — i feel like it would have been very frustrating if the book read the way season one has been unfolded

William and Captive Logan for back and find Lawrence / El Las

Teddy is back in Sweet water - starting his loop — and he’s looking for delores, gets back on the West World Train

Back at the “Church” Delores speaks to Arnold / then she finds arnold’s son’s toy maze in her own grave - Arnold - consciousness is the journey inward, not upward

Arnold realizes that the hosts are “alive” and he wants to convince Ford not to open to Park - Arnold Orchestrates his own death to “break the loop” before it begins. He instructs her to kill all of the other hosts, and tells her to enlist Teddy to help her too. He gives her the giant pistol she likes so much.

Through flash backs, Delores begins to remember her mass murder of all the hosts — Delores and Teddy Effed Stuff up

Man in black / William makes his “Guest can’t really lose” speech to Delores. His potential comeuppance is amazing as eff.

Charlotte Hale and Lee Daniels - talking about “Abernathy” getting out of West World — sounds like he got out. That’ll be interesting in season 2

Hale wants the hosts to be simpler - and uses famous last words that everything is under control. Just as the Delos Board members arrive on the train.

Maeve - getting worked on by Leonardo - and she begins making changes to park security and to Armistice and Hector (Get the character name).

Charlotte Hale visits Ford - tells him he’ll resign but first introduce his new narrative. Love that he says, “aren’t you afraid i’m going to smash all my toys and go home”?

The smarmy (pervy) Tech who gets his ultimate downfall — deserves it so much — and his death is GRIZZZZLLLLY as is the other tech whose finger Armistice bites off

Best part of show is when Felix thinks he’s a Host too.

The Delores / William / Man in Black “battle is pretty interesting”. the Reveal of him being William is surprising to no-one but William.

How about when William sends Logan off on a Horse Naked? Does he factor in for the second season - If not - how did William explain him never coming back from West World??

William takes Delores “getting wiped clean” very personally. For an investor in the park — shouldn’t he have known about hosts getting wiped clean

The message of this show is, HUMANS ARE THE WORST.

Delores - Upon that sand, A new God will rise — her Wyatt Heel Turn is fantastic - I correctly called Man in Black getting his ass kicked last week — But he still really wants and likes to get his ass kicked by hosts. Stabbing Delores is interesting too (because of how well it ties in with Ford’s overall plan). Then Teddy Lights him up with 5 pistol shots

Then Teddy Takes her  to where the “mountains meet the sea” and it’s all part of Ford’s “Narrative” - i did’t quite realize where the was going yet, but I was starting to think that whatever he did, was going to be badass.

How about Maeve bringing back “Bernard” from a full head trauma, but leaving Pennyfeather lobotomized? That’s a little messed up. Especially since it took Felix like 8 mins to fix Bernard (and Bernard has all of his memory still).  Tells Maeve her memories are tied to consciousness, how can she learn from her mistakes if she can’t remember them.

Ford meeting Man in Black about the “hosts fighting back” is pretty fantastic - his “i think you’ll find my new narrative more satisfying" line is good, too. The Maze wasn’t meant for you, and how it’s tied to Ford’s plan to get the hosts ready to defend themselves.

Maeve — won’t heed Bernard’s advice that someone has altered her storyline to orchestrate “getting out”. Her existential free will dilemma is interesting. Penny Feather is  one personal mannequin challenge, btw - she’s the winner - case closed.

Love that Handsome Security guys’s replacement is so overmatched - as the “gala is starting” and Maeve is about to wreak havoc during her escape. Clearly getting Stubbs and Elsie out of the picture is part of Ford’s vision, too

Ford is Kaizer Sosze in his ultimate “win” - “Teddy says maybe this is the beginning after all, the beginning of a brand new chapter.” The new narrative is called “journey into night”

How about the Samuri’s that Maeve and her Crew happen upon, what’s gonna happen with that?

Ford - fixing up Delores - Does the whole “Machaelangelo” speech with her — God giving humans life with purpose. The Whole arnold/ Delores/ reveries piece. Arnold turned Delores into Wyatt!

Arnold’s plan to kill himself, so Ford can’t Bring him back — despite being able to bring the hosts back — seemed pretty ingenious. Delores killed Teddy, Arnold and Herself. And then Ford rolled her back.

So Ford - isn’t a monster — he feels like he’s been prepping the hosts for the moment when they will have to confront the human race for survival. “In order to escape this place you will need to suffer more. Goodbye and Good luck”.

Felix - gives Maeve info on her daughter, and Maeve now can’t leave.  Literally on the train to leave and she can’t do it.

Tandi Newton created an Army to follow Delores - with Ford’s help - and now Delores is Wyatt - EFF this should be really good.

Love that Ed Harris s getting cranked on bourbon by himself right before the ultimate speech / scene - Love that he’s the first one to see the Rouge Hosts, and he kind of likes that his cutthroat dream is coming true.

Lee Daniels happens upon the empty “Retirement tank” and that’s when I knew it was ON! But, i honestly didn’t see Ford killing himself til the end. Oh and Pennyfeather shoots Man in Black in the arm — she was salvaged!!!

I’m pumped for season two

HBO West World Episodes 8 & 9 analysis and show notes

West World Episode 9

Who Won - Candidates are William and Dr Ford - I’m going William

Who Lost - Logan or Bernard

Most Mind Blowing Moment — that Delores killed Arnold back in the day — 4 Words - WE MUST KNOW MORE

Senseless Nudity of the week - Bernard Body Double — little full backal nudity to quote Joey Lawrence from Blossom back in the 90’s.

Opening Scene - Maeve at headquarters talking to Bernard. Maeve basically shows Bernard that she’s “the boss” - she actually now is more “highly capable than he is” - she breaks the news to him (for the second time this season) that he’s a Host — and then actually freezes his motor functions. Her Jedi mind tricks are second only to Dr Ford at this point.

She really sets in motion what happens to Bernard at the end of the episode

Delores and William are in the Union Soldier Camp - William asks Logan to get Delores out of the park and into the real world - that convo doesn’t go well.

Bernard sneaks into Ford’s office / Ford is in the Decommison “Tank” more senseless nudity. They have a tete a tete regarding Arnold building his earliest code. Bernard wants a trip down memory lane — the full version — and Ford warns him. Bernard and the Original Pennyfeather hold Ford hostage - which seems like a great “Check mate move by Bernard at the time”.

Who is Bernard’s wife? He remembers Elsie but doesn’t say what he’s done with her

Back at the Union Army Camp - Logan - the pic of Logan’s sister is the one that Abernathy found in like Ep 1 or 2. That’s interesting for the future of the show

Logan stabs Delores — shows her mechanical parts in her stomach - Delores cuts logan’s face, shoots dudes and runs away — then finds herself in “another time” in the same field with her wounds no longer there.

Maeve pays visit to The Bandits - Rodrigo (?), Armistance, et al — she shows him that his precious bank safe is empty — and essentially proves to him that helping her “rob west world” blind - is his real quest. She gets him to remember past sequences and  the light their tent on fire while having relations, so they can get back to use and she an likely boost his “settings as well”. Maeve says, “getting to hell is easy, the rest is where it gets hard”.

Back at the old camp fire with Logan and William - William finally “feigns being back in line with Logan”.

Finally back to Teddy (James Marsden) and Angela (Telula Reilly) and Man in Black — Teddy has flash backs of Wyatt and him killing soldiers, but it turns out it may have been him as an outlaw killing civilians (including Angela) — She tells him when Wyatt returns he’ll be by his side, but Teddy isn’t ready and she kills him. She also puts the man in black to sleep via concussion and then ties his neck to a blindfolded horse with a rope up over a tree. She’s part of the “not effing around club”.

Charlotte Hale (Tessa Thompson) shows up to speak to man in black - She is recruiting his vote to get rid of Ford. She also says Man in Black kept Ford in business all those years’ ago. (I’m more and more convinced that William is Man in Black)

Stubbs aka Handsome Security guy gets an alert that is likely “Elsie’s transponder”. Goes to check it out - has “poor connection” - in a theme park? Weird? Also, Ghost Nation refuses to “Freeze all motor functions”.

Logan wakes up after a long night, and William has murdered every last host in the Union Solider camp. And he has taken a violent Alpha dog turn. He also says “don’t call me Billy”.

Back with Bernard and Ford - Bernard is having a total meltdown. And he’s on the trip to remembering Arnold. Delores is running to that little town with the steeple again. Arnold wanted to “Create consciousness” Ford tells Bernard. The hosts hear their programming as an inner monologue. Delores going in a confessional booth and ends up on the floor of “Home base” that has been de-commissioned like she’s walking through the halls of Bernard’s mind in some ways

Ford and Arnold gave the hosts tragic backstories - Bernard demands to be sent all the way back. He tries to rid himself of his “Cornerstone of his son’s death” - and he brings the son back, because the son is “fake,” Bernard “opens his eyes” and it’s his literal beginning - Ford creates him but he is basically Arnold. And Senselessly NUDE. Ford makes him the “ideal partner” - hands him a picture.

He realizes he’s arnold. And then Delores calls him Arnold. He tells here he can’t help her because he’s dead, because Delores Killed Arnold - WHOA!!!!!!!

The man in black then meets Delores at the church.

Bernard is going to “set the sentient hosts free”. But Ford, tells him that humans “ate the neanderthals” and anything that challenged our primacy. Ford asks Bernard to let him roll him back. He asks Clementine to shoot Ford. She won’t — Bernard realized there is a back door and Ford hacked him and Clementine. Ford narrates that Bernard will kill himself, and he does. Ford has a new story to tell. “Never place your trust in us, We’re only human, inevitably we’ll disappoint you.”

West World Episode 8

Who won - Maeve is the easy answer - she’s basically becoming a Jedi Knight in the park and pretty damn formidable at the “home base/ head quarters”. But here are 3 small wins - Logan over William and Delores // Wyatt over the the Man in Black with the help of Teddy /// Shannon Woodward — because I think the Elsie storyline isn’t dead, I think it’s coming back and in a weird or impactful way

Who lost - Hard to Say - William is now captured by the Logan and the Union Soldiers, Man in Black seems to have been led by Teddy into the clutches of “Wyatt” with the help of that mysterious damsel, Sylvester got this throat slashed by Maeve and is only alive because Felix  was told to coterize his neck back shut...but here’s my possible “Hot Take” - Maeve clearly has super powers, but her ability to have SUPER MEMORIES AND FEELINGS TIED TO MEMORIES is an issue i think. When they showed her back story with the Man in black and her daughter — and Dr Ford had to drop her memory all the way down — this is scary for her - cuz when she’s lost between those memories and her current role at the Saloon — she’s basically beginning to slash everyone’s throat. Also, Dr. Ford may have set himself up by Erasing Bernard’s memories… i think the Hemsdog is about to be on to him

Most mind blowing moment — There are some good nominees this week (Bernard did take Elsie last week), Maeve’s memory’s and back story revelations, but for me it’s when Delores had the flash backs - by the Old church steeple. It seemed to confuse many viewers, including Zach Braff, but it seems to confirm that we are on a space time continuum — which is perhaps solely tied to the memories of main characters like Delores & Maeve. We even saw Teddy get into the mix of remembering the man in black - and then subduing him. Delores’ memory has many of the current characters in a much more “peaceful role” than their wildwest roles we’ve seen. The “Snake Face Tattoo lady” Armistice (played by Ingrid Bolso Berdal) is learning how to “Formal” dance with the rest of the town’s people. Other’s in that crew are all “step ford wive/ husband versions of themselves”. My question, is this loop - in the past?? or is it past of Ford’s vision for the future - and Delores sees it because of Arnold putting it in her head?

Senseless nudity — At this point it keeps being Maeve (though we did get a little bit gratuitous nudity in the “retirement tank” when Charlotte Hale and Lee Stevens went to the get Delores’ dad off of the scrap heap —

So, instead let’s focus on two new female characters that seem to be interesting new adds to the mix - 1) is the aforementioned damsel in distress that Teddy and Man in Black “rescue” - This is the actress Talulah Riley - She was in Thor: The Dark World in 2013 and she played the “blonde” in 2010’s inception. Talulah plays “Angela” - and Angela is an interesting conduit between Teddy and Man in Black and Wyatt. Also — just as Teddy is starting to ask a lot of questions from man in black / she steps in?? How close is she to Dr Ford . But the Man in Black says “i thought they would’ve retired you? I guess Ford doesn’t like to waster a pretty face.”

The other woman was the “new clementine penny feather”. Here’s what’s weird - the actress playing the new penny feather is Lili Simmons. SHe’s only credited with one episode- Credits include Bone Tomahawk with Kurt Russell and the show Banshee from 2013-16 -

Ford brings Bernard “back on line” - he remembers murdering her and he’s upset about it - Ford tells Bernard he should be proud of his actions.

Ford built Bernard to find “heart” - because the other hosts didn’t have enough subtle emotion

Bernard is resisting Ford’s new “story line” - but Ford shows the upper hand — Bernard is going to clear trail linking he and Ford to Theresa - and have memories of his feeling for her erased.

Piano is playing house of the rising sun — finally i’ve called one after 4-5 weeks of being stumped

At Maeve’s place - new host has taken Clementine Pennyfeather’s role - different actress playing the part.

Maeve remember’s her story line as a mother of that little girl. Maeve is prepping to “leave” - we learn that hosts have detonators in their spines - Maeve is going to “write her own effing story”

Delores and William scene - she feels like she’s “home”/ been here before. Happens upon a bunch of dead hosts- Ghost Nation shot them all w arrows. One is still alive - tells them that Logan gave them info to “kill delores and william” - This william / logan saga is interesting to me.

Delores finds herself in the river face down / a voice says “come find me” — it’s a flash back - she’s been on this loop before

Theresa’s body ends up back at “base” with Hemsdog and Tessa Thompson (Charlotte Hale)

Maeve - asks “who is Arnold?” - she seems to be remembering Arnold - Sylvester (Ptolmey Slocum) protests. But, Maeve seems aware of what she needs changed in her “programming”. Felix and Sylvester are plotting to “wipe her clean” instead of helping her out - this should be interesting

Teddy and Man in Black are BACK - on horse back - they happen upon more folks who have been shot with arrows. They find a woman - Man in black remembers her - thought “Ford would have retired her”

Ghost Nation Guy attacks them - Teddy shoots him - doesn’t work — they Axe him in the head - Teddy is having flash backs of man in black from the old delores loop. He clocks the man in black.

The Techs bring Maeve upstairs to another programming area - Looks like Felix might not actually delete her

Lee Stevenes is with a “Cannibal dude” working on his “lines” - Charlotte Hale comes and visits him - and says he’s ready for a “real job” helping the board

Felix hooked Maeve up - tinkered w her core code - she sliced sylvester’s throat- She let’s felis save him saying she might “need him” and then she says it’s ’time to recruit my army”

Piano is playing some Foreigner i think — cold as ice!!! Yes! — NO! It was back to black by Amy Winehouse

She seems to have some Jedi Mind Trick - Yoda powers now - mind effs the saloon bartender

Has a flash back and once again Ed Harris is the source of her “murder” - Ed Harris is gonna be in big trouble i think

Maeve mind effs the new Pennyfeather - she literally speaks the narrative and it “happens”

The “bad guy shoot ‘em up crew” part of the loop starts (Snake face girl and her whole crew of bandits) - Maeve walks out tries to alternate with the narrative  - and does

Ford and Bernard - back in the “lab” - Bernard doesn’t understand the “things he feels” - asks what’s the difference between mental “pain” between hosts and people. Ford mentions the Humans also live in loops

Bernard hurt Elsyie - he remembers it right before getting “Cleared/ wiped”

Delores and William are “home” she reaches a town - she’s in new clothes so it’s a memory - A lot of characters are “back” including the little latin girl “el law’s daughter”

Delores finds the “steeple” - she asks “when are we”? she’s losing her mind a bit — her loops are intersecting - she says this is what Arnold wants. William gets her out of there.

They encounter Logan and a union scouting party

Lot of Nudity in the “retirement tank” — Charlotte Hale and Lee Stevens pick Dolores’ dad out of all of them to upload tons of “data to smuggle out inside of him” and to write him a script to get out of the park with it.

Bernard is speaking to Hemsdog aka Luke Hemsworth who plays Ashley Stubbs - and he shows “being a host” - because of his wiped brain. Elsyie gets brought up

Back to Teddy and Man in Black — Teddy starts beating the crap out of man in Black. Man in Black starts talking about how he’s the “good guy” - his wife took wrong pills and died in real life - wife apparently killed herself (and was told that by her daughter). He’s back to prove his character is not bad.

He tells the story of Maeve’s old “loop” - he killed Maeve and her daughter - but Maeve “refused to die”. Maeve slide his throat but apparently sliced the new penny feather’s throat.

Maze revealed itself to Ed Harris - Arnold's game is a deeper game and it cuts deep

Maeve escapes — flash back to when her daughter was killed at base and Ford wipes her clean with an “old trick from an old friend” - taking away her suffering - She slitted her own throat in the flash back

Man in black wants to best wyatt - The host girl with them wants Ed Harris dead — teddy still can’t pull the trigger. - Then that girl stabs teddy with an arrow  - Yikes.

All of Wyatt’s men appear with Ghost Nation peeps and Ed Harris is surrounded

West Word Episode 7

Who won? Dr. Ford

Who lost?  Theresa Cullen

What gave me the creeps/ blew my mind the most?  Bernard Being a Host

Senseless / Needless use of nudity Maeve’s body double — full exam table frontal cuz you know, why not

Places listening

opening - Bernard Lowe is talking to “his son” Charlie must be a dream / flashback - yup - he was dreaming

Bernard asks one of the desperdo dude hosts - questions him about exchanges, etc

Asks about Elsie (who is on leave)

El Laz - one the train gambling w William and Dolores. Heads mounted on spikes

Shannon Woodward is lost on the show but not twitter for liking our tweets

Lowe goes to see Theresa Cullen - awkward exchange — Cullen finds Board member lady , Tessa Thompsonm- she is utilizing the Desperado host for a little real life escapes action

She says that the “code” is what matters (not the hosts, or people who work there) etc

The board is planning to force Ford’s resignation - says they need a blood sacrifice

Flash to Maeve who awakens - to the player piano - Maeve turns piano off and seems ready to efff up some ess… Penny feather approaches and they have their usual day time banter on the script. The scene freezes except Maeve - Hazmat men come in - and grab Pennyfeather — seems like they’ll use her for the “offering to the gods that Board member / Tessa Thompson talked about with Theresa Cullen

Back to Train ride - Dolores and William chat it up - We learn that William was an avid reader as a kid.

Juliette - is William’s fiancee and Logan’s sister - William explains that to Delores. He’s really worried about her feelings.

But he seems to be really into the fake life - this story line seems to lend itself to the idea that William becomes the man in black or something of that nature. McPoyle has come a long way.

Board member — Miss Hale, MIss Cullen present to Dr Ford and Berand Lowe. Code review finds “disturbing things in Clementine pennyfeather.

Crazy scene - and she flips out and beats the crap out of the host posing as a human - then she goes to turn on the Hemsdog - and he ices her.

Cullen states that the hosts are now capable of holding grudges and acting on them — looks like they are about to fire Lowe - yup! Hale fires him.

Anthony Hopkins doesn’t say a word - looks like he wants to.

Back on the train - William seems to be flipping on “west world’s purpose” - seems like Dolores is his “muse” of sorts - Train gets stopped mid journey. Bunch of sheriff types have em ambushed. It’s the confererados

A dead guy rides out of the train - and El Las shoots the corpse full of explosives - Horse chase !!! The Ghost Nation starts bow and arrowing the confedarados - and it gets pretty gnarly

Dolores finds the landscape she drew (pretty much the grand canyon) - and beyond it, the “unclaimed territories”

El Laz is “out”

Thandie Newton body double wins useless nudity contest again- She’s all up in Felix’s business (Leonardo Nam) - and of course Sylvester is working on Clementine - Lobotomizing her — Something tells me that ends poorly for Ptolmey Slocum - Clementine got “retired”. Sylvester explains his reasoning -  Maeve says surviving is just another loop. She is planning a “jailbreak” from west world - Maeve is gonna kill everyone

Lowe - explains to Cullen that he knows that she and Hale set him up. Cullen and Lowe go to “Check some things out in the park” - He takes her to Ford’s “family home” in the park. There is a remote diagnostic facility - Ford’s been making his own hosts. BERANARD IS A HOST - And Ford shows up for a little “hot take hot truth” action

Hopkins - goes a little hannibal lecture on Cullen with his peacock speech. Bernard killed Theresa Cullen — and I think Ford is making her (in host form) in the “Chamber”
