Tiger King Podcast

Tiger King

Joe Exotic - starts off that you hate him, by episode 3 you like him, by episode 5 he’s kind of in the middle, episode 7 it’s just sad and you want it to end.

Essentially cult leader. Pro-Guns, Pro-Big Cats, Anti Carole, Loves country (and pretending he’s a singing), love tigers, some of what he does means he’s got a heart of gold (like employing ex-cons, but at the end of the day megalomaniac with a meth problem is how he’d be cast as a movie character.

Dude in Charleston - starts off like a middle ground between Joe and Carole from Big Cat rescue. Kind of more successful than Joe, but seems to agree with Joe about Carole. They we learn he’s basically a more successful cult leader than Joe and that he’s got multiple spouses  — and i think a lot of bad stuff has gone down for him since the documentary ended.

Carole Baskin- start off that you like her, by episode 3 you’re like “wait did she kill her husband”, by episode 4 you’re like she definitely killed her husband, changed his will, ripped off his kids, likely bribed officials to look the other way, is using her money to bankrupt Joe and the other Big Cat owners out there, and doing it all with a smile on her face

The dude Jeff (who bails out Joe Exotic) a con man who realizes that baby tigers are gold if you’re a “swinger”.

The fact that all of the Tiger Themed Country Song Music Videos are getting so much action right now - is an nod to Joe’s artistic flair.

“I Saw A Tiger” is about as pure as it gets.

“Here Kitty Kitty” is the “diss track” we’ve been waiting for since the Jay-Z vs. Nas beef was squashed. The Carole Baskin Lookalike in that video is spot on, too.

The actual singers are Danny Clinton and Vince Johnson btw.

Joe Exotic is the Milli Vanilli or 2020 and created the new sub genre Tiger Themed Country Music.

Series Finale of HBO's "The Night Of" - Show notes & Outlandish Theories

The Night Of episode 8 Notes (Series Finale)

So this new series Westworld looks nuts - Anthony Hopkins

Night Of Series Finale _ Buckle Up

Riz Ahmed is Nas - Props to that actor a very interesting role to play

Steve Zaillian - Director

Dennis Box is drinking listening to two other cops talk abut TV show ideas, he leaves bar and goes home to review videos of surveillance

Andrea is looking behind her like she might be getting followed - Now we are focusing more on Andrea through Box’s eyes

Chandra is questioning Trevor — and then Dwayne Reed, who is back in jail for another break in

Dwayne Reed has a lot of potential to have motivation for this crime

Helen isn’t questioning Trevor nor Dwayne - interesting

The Undertaker - is now going on the stand — His name is “Day” - his wife got a restraining order against him and called 911 on him

Chandra does a good job examining him

And now we’re back at the gym with Don, and with John Stone - Stone drags him in an alley - next scene, John Stone is giving Don the finger in the security line

Don takes the witness stand - Don admits — that Andrea was outraged about her mother Evelyn’s will giving him half. He also got fired from Equinox for being a creep and he had two restraining orders

He filed a claim in suragotes court for Andrea’s trustfund - at 8am the monday after the saturday night she died and buried her 2 days later

Box is going back through film - Andrea had a fight with some one on camera at a coffee shop and he then appears to following her

Nas is cutting up Cocaine in jail and doing some as well

Chandra and Stone discuss calling Nas to the stand - Stone is very much against it — She asks Nas to testify and he seems to ask for her to help him bring drugs or something into Rikers Island. and it turns out that he asks her for condoms. And now she’s doing some type of Drug deal on CAMERA (unknowingly)  - What is she doing??????????????? My guess is that it’s adrenal or something — THIS IS NUTS

Box is still on this case - running credit cards of people at Locanda night spot the night of andrea’s death

Nas takes the stand — he recants the evening with Andrea

Helen goes for the cross examination - she goes after his character pretty hard. Nas shouldn’t have taken the stand — BONE HEAD MOVE — Helen shreds him

She then quotes Muhammad  to end her speech - she crushes him and then he says “I don’t know” when asked on last time if her killed Andrea. Nas may have “thrown” his on testimony to stay in Jail.

Stone tells Chandra that she just “convicted” Nas

Stone is back at the Pet Shelter - Bryan Burton - he’s returning the cat. Nas gets a NECK TATOO - what the heck is he doing — he’s blowing his freedom

Box goes back into work - uncovers Ray Halle’s info/ phone number - Box is at the Golf Course - he couldn’t look more out of place

He the appears to be playing slots in Atlantic City - but he’s actually tailing Ray Halle - he apparently beat up a prostitute — he’s also got a gambling issue, and a picture of her on vacation.

Damn!!!! Ray - Freddy and Nas are recruiting a new dude — Nas has some juice in Rikers now

Box breaks it down for Helen — she’s not impressed. Freddy gets a dvd of film from a guard

Stone received a “package” it’s the CD/ DVD — he plays it — it’s Chandra kissing Nas — this is bananas — times a million

Stone goes to see Nas to convince him to let him go public with the DVD

The Judge basically tells Chandra she’s done — makes John Stone the lead attorney - Stone doesn’t want it - There’s snow on ground but Box was golfing - odd

Stone thinks that Box - sent the DVD to him and asks him how it went

Allison Crowe comes back to basically fire Chandra - damn

This show is taking everyone down with it - Helen paints Nas’ lack of memory as a “redaction” for self-preservation. Box gets up and walks out during Helen’s closing arguments

I think Helen just realized that Nas’ knife wasn’t the murder weapon

Stone’s exema is coming back — he’s a basket case - he’s having a panic attack — this is bad news - he goes to emergency room  - Looking grim for Nas

Stone is back in White Gloves giving his speech / closing statement — he’s doing a good job. Talks about the “Rush to Judgement” and about his right to be presumed innocent. That speech is gonna get Turturro an Emmy nomination

There is no verdict from the Jury / Nas has to go back to Rikers/ Stone goes back to Pharmacy/ Chandra goes back to her law firm to pack her desk- Stone is back at Exema anonymous, Nas is cutting up Coke. Freddy give Nas the “I care about you speech” - Tells Nas he smells like “innocence” - calls him the real deal. Calls him a unicorn

They are back in Court and Appear to have a verdict - Nope they are “Deadlocked” — and the judge is heavy fisting the foreman to keep deliberating - the judge dismisses that jury

Helen declines a re-trial - Nas is free - Chandra leaves - Box and Helen exchange a glance - Nas is packing in prison - Freddy isn’t in his room he’s boing - Nas gives him one last look. Freddy gives Nas his “call of the wild’ book - Nas leaves jail. His dad picks him up -

Box joins NYU campus police — Helen tells Box “over an E-cig” that she wants to go after Ray Halle.

Nas’ family home is for sale - family dinner is a tad awkward  - has a tough talk with his mom- he “goes out” and he’s meeting with Stone. Nas gives a bad look when his buddy Amir walks into the same place. Stone is back on subway with the chop stick and sandals on.

Nas is buying drugs on the street. Nas goes back to the “beach” aka the Hudson River, and is free basing - that’s tough to see he remembers Andrea - Stone is home and gets a call for more perinct dwellers and he then sees an ASPCA commercial with a kitten oh boy — Stone is back on the case and Andrea’s cat is back in the Apt

Pretty much a cliff hangar ending in terms of Andrea’s killer and Nas’ future, etc — really interesting series

Back in court — Chandra - examines a witness (Doctor)/ photographer guy  - he’s a forensic expert - and his testimony really seems to be helping — he a hasn’t missed a single thing. Profound evidence about the table containing Andrea cells, the broken lock, the fact that an intruder could scale the tree outside. His name is Dr. Katz and he’s a pathologist.

Helen - tries to bring out the smarminess of Dr Katz — and it works

Stone finds out that Box gave Nas back his inhaler on the night of the crime // Box is packing up his stuff and Stone goes to confront him outside the precinct

HBO's "The Night Of" recap show - Episode 3 "Taxi Cab Fiasco"

"The Night Of" Episode 3 notes

NBA is removing the All-Star game from Charlotte, NC in 2017 - good. If you want to be big time, you need actually grown-up policies to reflect life in 2016 — NC State legislature decided to act in a backward and provincial manner and the deserve this embarrassment they’ve created and the negative economic they’ve created. 2 time MVP was coming back to his hometown — and you botched it over a restroom law, which is rooted in fear mongering and bigotry. #ChumpSquad

Michael Jordan - donated $1mil to NAACP Legal Defense Fund and Institute for Community Police Relations — spoke out against gun violence and against the targeting of police -  that’s what we need — calling out both sides, acknowledging that both sides have a legit concern as well as legitimate responsibility to help find a solution. Nice Work!

Outlandish theory — Michael Jordan is going to run for Governor of North Carolina and eventually President of US — think about it — he’s seeing what  former C-list celeb Donald Trump can do, and he knows he can do it at least twice as well.

Heard a mashup of rapture by blondie and riders on the storm by the doors - baller

Speaking of mashups- Green party and libertarian party - take their best principles and start a new party - a centrist party of sorts

Show opens with Nas in Riker’s Island — doesn’t look good at all

Box - is all over oFficer Robert Maldonado — Andrea Cornish is the victim’s name - Box knows the case he’s building will have trouble with Jury because Nas is a civilian

Torturro - clearly has a bad rap as a lawyer in terms of results/ talent — Asst DA giving him crap in courthouse restroom. Torturro is John Stone

Torturro - talking to Nas’ parents - Charging $75,000 for the case — Nas’ parents have $8,000 in the bank. Torturro takes it down to $60,000 then $55,000 is the deal  then he goes to $50,000 for his retainer

Omar from the Wire appears to be a washed up boxer in Jail — and he has TV in his cell and it looks like about 25 flip phones - Quite a decent reprisal of “The Wire” cast members at this point

HE seems to also be getting visits from a lady friend — and she’s a guard at the jail — and she’s been giving him some contraband - and he’s been paying his rent. Any ideas on why this is relevant.

Nas walks in as a “new fish” fresh meat type situation.

John Stone is visiting the DA — they seem to have some type of history

She was stabbed her “age” 22 times — that’s relevant  // Stone is trying to plead the case to Manslaughter - DA ain’t having it - and gives him the card of  a tailor. Looks like they are over confident

Nas’ father - talking with his fellow cab owners — they want the cab back. Someone is “photo graphing him”

Nas is bunk mates with a guy with a knife tattooed on his face — Omar looks on from above.

Box is going through Nas Khan’s family personal effects

There is a higher end female lawyer — doing a botched plastic surgery case — seems like she’ll be factoring in — this thing is going to become a circus

Nas’ parents are visiting him at Riker’s Island - Guards give a heavy search to all guests — Nas gives his parents the low down of what happened that night. Omar is watching again.

Andrea Cornish lived at W 87th - UWS style - we learn this from DA’s office — Omar, and the Knife faced guys and the lady lawyer all are watching this news cast / press conference

Lady Lawyer seems to “want in” — Nas is now seen as a rapist — almost got beaten up — “Freddie” gives him some sneakers — think freddy is Omar. Impending Showing scene in a prison, never a good sign.

The taxi cab guys are told they aren’t going to get their cab - and could get sued. Mr. Kahn is advised to file charges against his own son for grand theft auto. Mr. Khan’s biz partners are giving a card for who else John Stone - to potential feel charges against Nas themselves from a police / impound guy.

Stone - visiting the Crime scene — the girl’s cat is still there waiting outside. Stone feeds it. Kahn is praying at prison — Omar watching again.

The lady lawyer is offering a pro bono representation of Nas. Her name is Allison Crowe

Is John Stone at an “exama” anonymous support group

Nas’ dad informs him he’s getting a new lawyer. Stone comes to visit Nas in prison - Nas let’s Stone know he lost the case. Stone goes to see Allison Crowe and the Chandra character. Stone is looking at some fresh shoes. He walks by a vigil for Andrea Cornish. He sees her cat - he’s allergic

Nas, back in jail — guard summons him to see “Freddy”. Seems like freddy gets a decent life in jail. Guards and Prisoners are “from same part of city” family is family. Gives him the lowdown on the charges he’s been accused of in the “prison judicial system”. They have a dark convo over a piece of raw veal. Reggie offers protection — Nas gets advice that he’s go to take it or he’s s good as dead.

The poor kitten got sent to the kennel - Nas goes to use restroom - they start a fire on his cot — and guys gives him the cut throat sign. Might want to take that protection.
