3 hot takes on italy - coffee, cell phones, and foot pump plumbing

Quick aside the “foot pump sink and toilet “ concept is money

Italians are on their phones all the time - they may or may not text a lot - but always on the actual phone. Oddly - not many Italians use blue tooth - which is odd because they certainly would benefit from being hands free while doing their other activities.

No Starbucks were noticed in Italy. Not on Milan, Genoa, Portofino nor lake como. But we figured it out, there are no “big cups of coffee” in Italy - the whole purpose of Starbucks is rendered useless. People bop into a cafe or bar. Get a sandwich and espresso while standing around at the bar chatting and then just go back on with their day.

So, Starbucks calls their 20 once coffee the venti (which is Italian for 20) despite Italians not typically drinking more than 3 ounces of coffee at a time.
